The DNC (Democratic National Convention) is going on right and since I am a bit more Obama then anything else, I am watching MSNBC, a pretty liberal broadcast. During the keynote speech by former Virginia Governor Mark Warner he was talking about hope, and how people can make the future right. It was a very good speech and really opens up how people should think about the future of the Nation.
The sad part of it was the follow up by the MSNBC panel where they were literally foaming at the mouth taking turns tearing his speech apart saying that it wasn't attacking McCain enough. They were yelling about how it wasn't a very good speech because it didn't tear into the republican party and were making fun of him for saying that choosing the right person to vote for was about who had the best ideas. Excuse me, but isn't that the point? I believe that Obama has the best ideas on how to run this country, he is running this campaign against the norm and not running attack ads or calling out McCain. Is that so wrong? Do we need to always fall back on politics as usual? I don't think so. The world is changing and if we keep trying to do the same thing that we have been doing for the last 50 some years then we will be left in the dust of the other countries of the world that has understood what governments need to do to be a world leader.
We need to stop focusing on doing things the same way because "that's the way we have done them before." Sorry, I wouldn't mind living in a world where we don't do things the same way that we have done them. Call me crazy, but the country has been run very poorly for the 28 years that I have been alive. Please, give me something new to hope for and maybe this country can finally move into the future and take our spot in the world.

On being jamaican?
Watching the Olympics at the moment and right now they are replaying some track and field that happened the night before in China. It's all about Jamaica and Usain Bolt right now. I am sorry, I am open to other countries and what not but when watching an American television station during an international competition I expect to see more coverage of American athletes over our international neighbors.
Now I understand that what Usain Blot did has been amazing and that this man is by far the fastest person to run on the planet right now, and the Jamaican track runners are doing an amazing job but does that mean we need to plaster their showboating all over our TVs right now? I don't see us covering the Chinese domination of badminton or other sports that the American contestants are losing in. With only a few days left in the Olympics a lot of people will be left with Jamaican on the brain because of NBC's choice of coverage.
Maybe it's the fact that they are beating a lot of records on the track or the fact that these guys are being pretty bad sports during their wins that is driving me batty. As I type this, NBC is continuing it's lavish praise on the Jamaican team. Thanks NBC.

Just got word the Usain Bolt will be donating a good junk of his Olympic winnings because of the flak he has been receiving due to his show boating.

On Nothing
Why can't I think of anything to put here? I have two posts and already have hit a block where I think to myself, "This isn't worth a post." "Who cares about this stuff besides me?" Why do I do this? I Have plenty going on yet can't seem to get a post written up that I like.
Maybe I will just type.
I guess the major thing going on that's taking up my time is the Olympics. I really love, and hate this time of year. I love watching all the games and seeing sports that are normally left for Sunday afternoon sports. It's not often that you get to watch track and field and swimming. Yet I hate watching these and watching the Americans fail. Call me a huge homer but I can't stand it when we don't win everything. Every chance I get I see something about the judging that makes me think that the judges are out to get us. Oh well, just a few more days of the games and sadly all these "stars" will fade away until four years from now in London. Would be nice to see the horizons of USA sports spread to other sports.
Another thing that I don't like is all the damn political ads and mud slinging and, sigh, the most idiotic commercials around. I need to be able to skip by them or I think I may go nuts. I am not used to watching so much prime-time television so I am not used to the drivel that gets shoveled out there for the masses. Soon I will be able to go back to the Discovery Channel and Travel Channel and not have to deal with it. Of course then it's time to watch the news channels for my politics updates since it's almost that time.
Ugh, I think it's time for bed.

On garage sales
This last weekend we held a garage sale at my parent-in laws house. It was long, boring and exhausting. I am not a morning person at all, and all three days we had to be up at 6am and out there by 8am. We were open for almost 9 hours per day.
Change of subject real quick.
Watching the Olympics here and just got done watching some kayak guy from a country called Togo win the bronze. The announcer just said, "This is what the Olympics are all about. An unknown man from a small country in a sport know one knows about wins the bronze." Something about that just strikes me as wrong. If it's a sport that know one knows about, and an unknown man from a country that not many people even realize exists, then how could it be what the Olympics are all about? Yeah, I get what he means, but the way he said it just sounded amusing.
Back to the garage sale. Not sure what it is but people can be kind of funny when it comes to these things. We had a lot of stuff ranging from kids clothes to household stuff to gaming items. Yet people wouldn't stop sometimes, they would slowly drive by with their mouths agape and then continue on. Ugh. Although we did pretty good and we did get rid of a lot of crap that had been cluttering up our house.
Oh, and for those that are reading this. I might try to pick a few days that I will post so that I don't take week long breaks between these things. Who knows.

On commercials
As I watch the daily episode of As the Brett Favre Turns, I get screamed at by these asinine commercials for Free Credit Report Dot Com. Always with the catchy jingle that gets your toes tapping about how going to the magical website will suddenly save your life from getting a job as waiter, or getting a clunker instead of a sports car or, and I love this one, saving yourself from getting married to a girl with *GASP* bad credit.
These commercials raise my anger level to about the Nth degree as they are completely insulting to everyone yet people get so caught up in the catchiness of the jingle they don't really listen to the message. I was in that same boat. I listened to the catchy one about working at a restaurant and how he could have been saved had he went to That Place That Shall not be Named.
OK, let's try it their way. I am in need of a job, any job at this point as most companies that even do credit checks are laying people off at an alarming rate. So I go and spend the whatever amount of money it is on getting the ultimate credit report.

Well let's say you go apply, you know what, most companies don't bother doing those checks anyway, or if they do, they don't really care about the results.
The other part of that same commercial gets me. Suddenly it's horrible to be a waiter. Well guess what people, we need waiters. We need janitors, we need garbage men. They aren't exactly glorious positions but they make the damn world work. With out the service jobs there would be nothing. So think on that the next time you ignore your waiter, or look down on the person helping you at the store. Without them you have nothing. *ahem* So as I was saying before that, any waiter or service professional that enjoys their work should be pretty damn pissed at this company as it pretty much slaps you in the face for choosing that job.
The other commercial makes more sense. Knowing your credit before trying to buy a car makes sense. Just the whole, going there thinking your going to buy a sports car but your credit says you can only get a junker is stupid. Most people going to go get a car have a rough idea on their possibility of getting a decent loan. They have talked it over with a bank, saved up money or are generally smart people. Generally. So saying that your credit score was a surprise to you and now you have a clunker is ridiculous.
The last part just makes me sick. Who in their right mind would do a credit check on their fiance?? If you are in love with someone, and I mean in love enough that you are going to get married, do you really think that something as utterly stupid as a poor credit score is going to affect this in any way at all?!? If you are with someone and you have discussed marriage then you should know what the hell is going on with someone. Just because the woman, or man of your dreams has defaulted on a credit card should be no reason in the entire universe to not get married or to even be upset at someone after said marriage. The entire thing makes me sick. It's crap like this that is making people idiots out there. Anyone that watches any of these commercial, especially this last one, and thinks they make sense need to go find the coast and start swimming. Just leave.
I can go on and on about idiotic commercials, their scare tactics (see Riddex) but that would just be over kill. It can be surmised that I just don't agree with 90% of the drivel fed to the viewing public and can get kind of heated about it.
By the way, the Twins just let another hit through and are losing 6 to 3 in the bottom of the 6th. The worst team in the American League and the twins can't seem to stop them from scoring over a half a dozen runs or more. *Sigh*

On the Dark Knight
So I sit here at my computer just poking around at all things Diablo 2 and kinda letting my mind wander. As it does I start to think about the Dark Knight, which we just saw on the 25Th. I must say, it was one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. I would rank this one right up there with the Lord of the Rings series, although a ranked lower then those epics.
Everything about that movie was perfect except for one thing, Bale's voice that he used for the Batman. It sounded so forced and harsh and just not natural. Batman's voice should be natural sounding, as it is Bruce Wayne's true identity with multi-billionaire his fake persona. I heard the arguments that Batman was overshadowed by Heath Ledger's amazing job as the Joker, but it really didn't seem that way to me. Both of them had equal shares of the story with a very nice touch of Harvey Dent added in there. All in all those three made a perfect trio for the movie.
Of course, you can't talk about the movie without talking about Heath Ledger. This was easily Heath Ledgers best role and he made the joker in this movie. I don't care what people say about Jack Nicholson's version of the joker, this one by Ledger was the version that all other jokers should be measured to. He hit everything that makes the Joker who he is. The Joker isn't a cartoony colorful flashy villain. He is dark, he is smart, and he is everything that Ledger made him be. The death of Heath Ledger really saddened me. I loved the movies he was in and thought he did amazing characters. A Knights Tale is one of the best movies I have seen and Ledger does a very good job being serious and funny in that movie. It will be sad to think that no more movies will be made with him in them.
